Simultaneously Hermaphroditic Organisms Workshop

It is our pleasure to announce that we’ll be hosting this year’s Simultaneously Hermaphroditic Organisms Workshop (SHOW) at the Université de Rennes, Brittany, from 23-24 April 2024.

The SHOW is an informal network of mainly European labs that has been meeting annually for the last ca. 15 years, to present latest results and discuss common themes on the evolutionary biology of sex in hermaphrodites. The scope includes (but is not limited to) studies on sexual selection, sexual conflict, sex allocation, self-fertilization, sex determination and sex chromosome evolution. Contributions on both simultaneously and sequential hermaphrodites in any organismal group are welcome and indeed we hope to attract researchers who can offer a variety of different perspectives.

To ensure the widest range of work can be presented, we ask that each research group represented nominates a single speaker to present a talk, but strongly encourage everyone else to bring a poster, for which we will also leave plenty of time (including for some 1-min flash talks). Indeed throughout the meeting there’s a strong emphasis on allowing ample time for discussion, with many collaborations having arisen from or been cemented by these meetings.

Thanks to generous support from the Observatoire des Sciences de l’Univers de Rennes (OSUR) and UMR 6553 ECOBIO, there is no registration fee and refreshments and lunches throughout the workshop will be provided. We just ask that attendees cover the cost of the workshop dinner to be held at a local restaurant on the Tuesday evening.

If you have any questions about the workshop, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and if you want to join us, please complete the registration here by 29th February:
